Response curve analysis of the data obtained (Figs 1, 2 and 3, and Table 2) indicated that the test measurements for grain yield, protein yield and and straw yield were affected by the rate of chicken manure applied. The grain yield response (Fig. 1) to low, intermediate and high rates of chicken manure applications indicated that the point of profitable yield (greatest economic return) corresponded to an application rate of 8"25 t ha -1 and for maximum yield, 16"5 t ha -1 or higher. Corresponding data (Fig. 2) shows that the protein yield parallels the grain yield response curve.
