at birth(14.97vs.13.08kg, Po0.05), 20dlitterweight(54.9vs.49.23kg, Po0.01),the
numberofpigletsatweaning(10.31vs.9.43, Po0.05) andweaninglitterweight(66.73
vs. 59.18kg, Po0.05).Apositivetrendwasalsonoticedasregardtothereductioninthe
back fatthicknessduringlactationintermsofnumericallesserintheExperimentalGroup
comparedwiththeControlGroup(0.79vs.1.05mm, P40.05).Theviablecountoffecal
flora(LAB, E. coli, and S. aureus) revealednosignificantdifferencesbetweenthesowsof
the twogroups.Moreover,thesupplementationof L. johnsonii XS4 hassignificanteffecton
certainbloodparametersofsowsdemonstratingsignificantincreaseinserumIgGlevels
(28.52vs.24.87mg/ml, Po0.05) anddecreaseinalanineaminotransferaseconcentrations
(28.09vs.33.92IU/dl, Po0.01).Itisconcludedthatadministrationof L. johnsonii XS4 in
diets duringtheendofpregnancyandduringlactationhadpositiveeffectsonthe
