Field trials of the present study were carried out at Cธ ukurova University, Agricultural Faculty Field Crops Department located in southern Turkey between the years of 2004 and 2005. In the experimental area, average climate values were 18.8 ◦C temperature, 434.3mm rainfall and 66.3% humidity in 2004, and 20.6 ◦C temperature, 344.7mm rainfall and 69.9% humidity in 2005 (Anonymous, 2006). Soil characteristics of the research area were clay-loam with 7.50 pH, 85.1 kg ha−1 P2O5, 0.13% total N, 24% lime.
A. annua L. grows naturally in different regions of Turkey (Baytop, 1984). The current study were obtained from wildgrowing plants in Adana. The seed was harvested in autumn when they were ripening in 2003. Seeds were threshed, cleaned, dried and stored in plastic bags at room temperature in dry conditions in the laboratory until the study.
