Each location should develop, document, and implement safety-related work practices for
employees who work with or around (potentially) energized electrical circuits or
equipment. Such work practices should address the following:
a. Prevention of electric shock or other injuries resulting from direct or indirect
contact with energized parts.
b. Nature and extent of the site-specific electrical hazards.
c. Procedures for working on energized and deenergized equipment.
d. Procedures for using electrical equipment.
Note: The safety-related work practices may be part of the location’s hazardous energy
control program.
