How can we use ocean water?
5 almost three-quarters of the earth’s surface is covered with water. The vast oceans of the world would seem to be an almost limitless supply of water for the world’s population. However ,the presence of salt makes this water unusable for many purpose , such as irrigation or human consumption . still ,scientists continue to experiment with ways to desalinate, or remove salt from, water . there has been some remarkable success, especially in middle eastern countries such as Saudi Arabia . up to now , however ,desalination methods have proved to be quite expensive. The ocean has remained salty for millions of years as minerals are released into its water , and it is a difficult challenge to alter this process. Extracting, or removing, salt from water on a large scale is possible but difficult. It requires firs filtering the ocean water to remove salt and then treating it with chemicals at high pressure. It’s a process that is both costly and time-consuming.
