Returning to Malaysia, the ever-familiar sight where the heart always calls for a missing person. I’m standing right here in the place, seeing no trace of you. If you were still here, I’d hug you tight.
This time, I had learned the law. There are 2 systems like 4 southern provinces of Thailand (in Thailand only Family and Succession law for Muslim people). One is federal law and the other is Sharia law. LGBT people prohibited cross-dressing and transgender. Any Muslim male person wearing a woman’s attire or posing as a woman dress shall be punishment 3 years of imprisonment. In 2012, the Court of Appeals of Malaysia’s ruling reversed a lower court’s sentence. This is a victory for the trans community. It increases public awareness and visibility regarding the fundamental human rights violations faced by trans people in Malaysia.
