Conception of Sentosa
Plans for development
In January 1969, then STPB chairman P. H. Meadows revealed plans for a resort to attract “millions” of tourists to Pulau Blakang Mati with attractions such as chalet-style hotels situated atop hills, floating hotels, kelong (stilt fishing structures) restaurants, golf courses, and leisure activities such as horse-riding, fishing, water-skiing and scuba diving, as well as the island’s natural beaches, forests and scenery. However, the proposed casino was cancelled.
