This would be a very informative experiment to try!
Marketing is obviously inescapable in any free service, but the extent to which these algorithms can construct personalized media environments for us should be at least a little startling, especially as we increasingly rely on our homepage for news of current events, politics...etc..
It would seem to be far too easy to fall into an information trap, continuously reinforcing our own beliefs, biases, and online habits at the expense of a broader, objective variety of content...cogs obediently turning in this newfangled culture-machine.
