Judging from the results of the ‘Connected World’ study, college students and young professionals are likely to find ways around restrictions on social media access if it suits their needs – regardless of corporate policies. Three out of four employees surveyed believe their companies should allow them to access social media and personal sites with their work-issued devices. Additionally, 40%of college students said they would break a company’s social media rules. That’s a significant slice of the potential workforce surveyed in this study – and it serves as a warning to enterprises as they grapplewith their Acceptable Use Policies (AUPs) for social media. In other words, you can ban or restrict social media, but the odds are good that your employees will access them anyway.
