As per our discussion on phone and for the client to see my points, please see below:
-Most of the adjustments does not have something to do with mistranslation; but instead source updates and source changes, style preference, spec changes, word choice etc.
- As this is marketing translation, my comments in the attachment are based on translation principle which means that we need to be strict to the meaning of the source text. Any discrepancies in the client's revised version should not be acceptable. The language needs to be smooth but still concise in meaning.
-There are several mistranslations in the revised versions. Please see attached.
-The source text appears in the Word file are just for reference to see where each translation paragraph is for. Therefore, the attention should be focused on the the meaning of the translation. If the client needs to adjust the specs or what in the source text, the translation needs to be adjusted accordingly (But this is an extra work). In addition, some meanings in the source text are ommitted in the revised version. This should not be ok.
-The client should consider this work as translation. They can't change freely wherever they want but instead always refer to their source text.
-If the client wants to change anything beyond the scope of the orginal meaning, it should be under the client's responsibility; not us. I mention this because there should be the limitation of adjustments in translation work. Otherwise, later on, the fact that we do not follow the source meaning may lead to negative comments about our translation and quality.
