addition to our stroke alert algorithms, a summary of
roles and responsibilities was developed to clearly
define each staff members accountabilities and tasks.
(Figure 1). As the team works with the patient, it is
important that accurate, ongoing bedside documentation
occurs. A timeline documentation form (Figure 2)
is completed to record all patient care activities from
arrival time to patient transfer or admission. In addition
to recording the patient care events, it helps to coordinate
the teams activities and provides data for quality
monitoring.
Before implementing our telestroke programme several
Mock Stroke Alerts beginning in the ED reception
area were conducted to evaluate if the planned roles,
responsibilities, and timelines met expectations. In
