is inimitable flair and eye for detail makes him the undisputed king of luxe, and we're not only talking shoes! luxury cobbler christian louboutin is riding high on the wave of global success, and deservedly so. but it's quite interesting to see how the designer perceives luxury, and goes the extra yard to avoid generic retail design and create a unique vibe for every store he opens. and the recently opened men's boutique in london is no different. located on dover street, now a true fashion axis with global appeal, the interior of the newest of christian louboutin stores is once again a meticulously crafted collab with new york-based design company 212box. occupying approx. 170 sqm. [1,830 sq.ft.] spread over two floors of a georgian building, it features an innovative interior that playfully matches the building's elegant historic detailing with contemporary design elements, and results a signature louboutin retail environment. upon entering the ground floor, shoppers are welcomed into the room by the signature louboutin red carpet, seen here in a deeper, more masculine hue and accompanied by a geometric rawhide border. the bay window at the front of the boutique creates a natural seating bank, with the area marked out by a luxurious white hide flooring.
a robust cash desk, clad in sustainable tiikeri material, is placed in the middle of the store and provides an eclectic contrast with the colourful bespoke furniture pieces by london-based design firm squint, and made from vintage fabrics that the shoe designer sourced on his many travels. embroidered tiger rugs by atelier jean-françois lesage add a whimsical note. similar to the original men's store in paris, the store features leather-work rhombus wall panels with intricate emboidered detailing. as eclectic is the unofficial design principle of christian louboutin boutiques, the refined style blend is further extended by product display units. one leather goods chest even combines a futuristic metal and glass finish upper with foundations clad in colourful tin tiles. the back of the store features an oversize cut-out metal work denoting the designer's name, and dominates a frosted window alongside gyroscope displays. a staircase leads down to the secondary retail space, reserved for a private shopping appointments. here the design takes a different turn and features studded concentric display stands and turquoise blue carpets with comfortable banquets offering an ideal setting for more leisurely perusals. the new christian louboutin men's store carries the brand's full men's collection of shoes, sneakers and bags, and offers as such the widest selection nationwide. location: 35 dover street [mayfair]
