The following section will focus on how the population mobility affected the regional disparity in each region. Value of statistical indexes listed in Table 1 shows that the regression result has better significant level than that in Duan et al. (2005) and still testifies its right that economic growth in China has the character of convergence. During 1978 to 1987, it can be seen that the convergence rate of whole nation is close to 3%, and the rate of the East, the Midst, and the West keeps being 2%, 7.5%, 4%, respectively. It means that although the regional disparity in China or its three regions was decreasing in the period of 1978–1987, the contribution of population mobility to economic growth in each region was different from each other.
