Earlier study on the genetic diversity of B. gibsoni in Indian isolates
using 18S rRNA gene and ITS-1 sequences by Mandal et al. (2014)
showed that B. gibsoni isolates in India were genetically similar and
authors suggested that there could be clonal expansion of a single strainof B. gibsoni Asian genotype in India. However, with the use of BgTRAP
DNA sequence, a distinct genotypic variation was detected in the
Indian isolates of the parasite.
