Understanding Adjective and Adverb Suffixes
Many adjectives in English are formed by adding a suffix at the end of a verb
or noun. The most common suffixes are -al,-ent,-ive,-ous,-ful,and -less.
Example: father (noun) + -less (suffix)= fatherless (adjctive)
Many adverbs in English are formed by adding the suffix -ly at the end
of adjectives.
Example: productive (adjective) + -ly (suffix) = productively (adverb)
you can easily expand your vocabulary by learning the different forms of
a word. You can keep track of the words you learn in a word form chart
like the one in Activity A below.
