Not much research has been conducted regarding referees compared to other
elements of football. FIFA and UEFA decision mechanisms started examining physical
and physiological values of professional referees emphasizing the significance of
referees in shaping the future of football. It is found that players run 10.3 kilometers
(km), 1.7 km of which is high tempo running and they change activities 1300 times
during an average game. Physical reactions are: Heart Rate (HR) at 140- 190 beat/min
during a game, average HR as 163 beat/min, blood lactate value fluctuates between
2.0 – 10.2 mm/L at an average of 4.9 mm/L (Bangso & Krustrup, 1998).
