wild cats have been forced, through hunting,to live in remote mountain forest areas. They can be found today in parts of southern and central Europe, with a slowly recovering population in Scotland. They make their dens under fallen trees, amongst rocks or in vacated burrows. Wild cats are about twice the size of a domestic cat,and they also have thicker, blunt - ended tail. They are shy, nocturnal animals and stay alone except during courtship in early spring. Their diet consist of mainly small mammals, hares, rabbits, birds and amphibians.
