Mr. Escalante goes and talks to Ana’s father at the restaurant and tells him she should stay in school
and she could be the first of her family to go to college.
Consequentialist: Mr. Escalante is looking out for Ana's best interest by encouraging her father to
allow her to stay in school instead of dropping out to work in the restaurant. This will be a much more
beneficial situation for her because she will be able to further her education.
Nonconsequentialist:
It is inappropriate for a teacher to seek out the parents/family members of their
students in their homes and/or place of employment.
