This study aimed to identify suitable habitats for reintroduced Eastern Sarus Cranes. The national reserved wetlands in Burirum province were selected as study area. The study area covers to the released sites and it is an only one natural habitat of Eastern Sarus Crane in Thailand. Two factors and ten indicators that affect habitat selection for the Eastern Sarus Crane were analyzed. To produce a habitat suitability map, all data were analyzed for correlation and the suitable value index (SI) was determined. The results show that the frequency of Eastern Sarus Crane appearances in the study area is significantly correlated withthe distances to middle-large water bodies (p<0.01) and with 0.965 the correlation efficient is very high. The middle-large water body is a one of indicators. It refers to the accumulations of water, such as wetland, river, reservoir, pond and so on that has area more than 0.5 km2. The largest part of the study area (2,857.7 km2 or 62.5 %) is a moderately suitable habitat for Eastern Sarus Crane, highly suitable are 1,403.2 km2 (or 30.7 %) and least suitable are 311.8 km2 (or 6.82 %) at the 90 % confidence limit. These areas are important for the welfare of the reintroduced Eastern Sarus Crane and should be managed for the conservation in the future.
