Another dry ashing technique tested in this study was
dry ashing with Mg(NO3)2. This is an approach suggested
for all volatile element determinations in the
literature (Bock and Mainz, 1979), but it had not been
applied in white sugar analyses previously. The final
modification of this technique involving HNO3 usage
(method IV) was also found successful in the determinations.
