Based in Chiang Mai, a northern city of Thailand, Kamin Lertchaiprasert has developed an activity that aims to harmonize the daily life and the art by putting emphasis on the process of art making and frequently referring to the Buddhism philosophy. His work often takes a form of the project throughout a year or years. 'Sitting', the work on view at this exhibition, also consists of woodcuts and wood sculptures which have been modeled after a series of 365 drawing executed one piece per day from the New Year's Day of 2004. On these somehow humorous figures in meditating position will be seen the reflections of the artist's everyday experience or state of mind, also the messages that he obtained through his daily meditation.
