The Bangkok Post surveyed visitors to several major tourist attractions
and found foreign visitors, particularly Chinese, weren't panicking about
the Bangkok blast. Chinese tourists said they felt badly for those affected
by the tragedy, but were not scared away by the incident as it occurred
in Bangkok, far from Chiang Mai.
Hotels still have 70-80% booking rate for the Chinese national day
Holiday period in early October. The tourism industry had survived
Thailand’s political crises, which had more severe effects on tourism.
Therefore, It believes the tourism scene in Chiang Mai would not be
Afflicted by the Ratchaprasong incident.
