A long, hot, dry summer can cause a number of serious problems for many people in central Thailand. First of all, because of the long and dry spell, people will use air more electricity. Therefore, it leads to an increase in pollution. This increase in pollution can cause breathing problems for people when they are outside. In addition, there are more diseases which spread in hot weather. For example, if food stays too long on the market shelves, it becomes contaminated and leads to food poisoning. Then people can become sick with diarrhea and stomach pains. Lastly, one of the most serious problems is that crops do not grow well. This results in higher prices of fruit and vegetables in the marketplace causing an increase in the cost of living. In addition, farmers suffer financially because they have only poor crops to sell. In conclusion, a long hot dry summer is a serious problem with major effects for many people in central Thailand.
