The Silent Way, as with any other teaching method, is not perfect. There are certain drawbacks, even major ones, which might cause certain teachers to be cautious in its application. When it comes to teaching and learning alike, it is generally accepted that there is no universally applicable method, and this includes Gattengo’s Silent Way. Teachers should certainly take into account the numerous advantages of the Silent Way, but to employ it without considering the risks would be inadvisable.
