With the exception of
E. marina, the digestion times measured in this study
were for individual prey items. During a bloom event,
consumption of multiple E. marina was unavoidable, and
the digestion time of E. marina increased substantially as
the number of flagellates in the larval guts increased.

feeding rates with digestion times measured for a single
prey item when numerous prey items have been consumed;
