What is interesting is when Facebook envy is entered as a mediator,
Facebook surveillance actually exhibits a direct and negative
effect on depression, (B = .77, t = 2.12, p < .05). What this means
is that surveillance use of Facebook can lessen depression when it
does not trigger feelings of envy. However, surveillance use of
Facebook can lead to depression when it triggers Facebook envy
(see Fig. 1).
