Even though the productivity
of mixtures was not greater than E. pilularis monocultures when
averaged across all replicates, the mixtures actually had 10–18%
greater basal areas (at age 17.1 years) than E. pilularis monocultures
in the two replicates where the basal area of E. pilularis was
no more than 25% greater than that of E. grandis monocultures
(2500 trees ha1).
