Once the suppliers had the opportunity to talk through their issues
and agree solutions with the different members of the Tesco team, they
were better prepared to return to their own operations and talk through
the changes with their production and despatch teams. These visits
were a valuable contribution to the success of growing the tray
business. There were some special dynamics. If an individual supplier
was contacted in isolation, then the conversation would centre on
particular issues preventing the implementation of the proposed
change. This could be termed a tactical response. However, when the
small group were together at the RSU there were the benefits of group
dynamics
