(1) Boys and girls differ in their biological make-up, their interests, their aspirations and their expectations. (2) More important, they differ in their rates of development. (3) At age 13, girls are gaining maturity and emotional attachment while boys are still unruly toughs. (4) trying to teach them in the same class is like trying to teach two groups of different ages together. (5) Left to themselves, children naturally choose friends among contemporaries of the same sex.
