The material uploaded to your site infringed our member’s copyright and a claim was validly submitted to YouTube to have it removed. IFPI did not apply a strike to your account, that action would have been taken by YouTube. We understand that it is YouTube’s policy to apply strikes to users’ accounts when YouTube has received copyright claims submitted in respect of material that a user has uploaded. YouTube does this as it is required under copyright law to have a repeat infringer policy in order to protect itself against claims from copyright owners. It is a matter for YouTube as to how they implement their repeat infringer policy in light of their obligations to copyright holders and users.
