The eleven serotypes shared by humans and chicken meat (see
Table 4 for serotype details) represented 47.8% of all chicken
serotypes identified and 35.5% of all human serotypes identified. Of
the 94 study participants, 35 (37.2%) had infections with a serotype
also isolated from a chicken meat sample; however only 21 (60%)
participants with any of the overlapping serotypes indicated they had
consumed chicken in the week before illness onset
