of these special festival foods are created by many Trinity volunteers during several long days of preparation. One day is devoted to making around 200 pounds of Sloppy Joes, another for preparing the cheesecakes, and then another for baking all of those shortcakes. We then have the volunteers who hull the berries so that more volunteers can make the freezer jam and bread. Each day of the festival boxes and boxes of fresh berries are hulled, with over 1,500 pounds of luscious, red berries served during these three days.
Trinity Episcopal Church contributes one half of its festival proceeds to parish outreach projects such as the Cropwalk, Helping Hand Food Closet, the Adopt-A-Child-Size program, Girlstown, Detroit Soup Kitchen, and others.
