If you're a fan of burlesque, you'll no doubt be pulled in by the sensual charms of Miss Rosie Bitts. As the alter ego of Victoria burlesque performer Trinda Reed, she slinks and winks and shimmies her way across the stage, joyfully – and unabashedly - recounting the story of her life.
Pearl-clutchers, beware: Rosie frankly describes childhood sexual experimentation, lesbian orgies and unplanned pregnancies. But her warmth and humour always shine through, and she seemed to genuinely connect with the audience (especially the hapless dude she pulled right on stage – if you're shy, I wouldn't recommend sitting in the front row).
All the talk about desire and control and gettin' it on is provocative, but it can also get repetitive - I found myself wishing for some character development that DIDN'T revolve around sex.
But Rosie Bitts is such a charming, I-don't-give-a-damn-what-you-think kind of woman, it's hard not to get swept along for the ride.
