Exposure to metals also occurred slightly more frequently in controls than in cases (see Table 3). The analyses on duration and cumulative exposure did not provide evidence for an increased risk of PD in persons occupationally exposed to metals. There were only 16 women with exposure to metals. Similar as the other exposures more controls than cases reported to have ever had a job involving more than 3 days per week of electrical welding (high exposure), resulting in a significant decreased odds ratio (see Table 3). The analyses that were adjusted for potential confounders and analyses
on duration and cumulative welding exposure no longer showed statistically significant reduced odds ratios. Only 2 women reported welding on a weekly basis.
