The obtained results demonstrated the effectiveness of the SO2
treatment that was applied in the laboratory and in a pallet scale
operation against gray mold of blueberries, and we found an optimal
SO2 Ct product of between 250 and 350 (L L−1) h at 20 ◦C
that would for allow prolonged protection of the fruit during cold
storage in normal atmospheres. The SO2 treatments at those concentrations
did not show visual symptoms of phytotoxicity and
only showed minor effects on fruit softening.
