However, the longest telomeric repeats that
could be sequenced were 2.5 repeats. Nozaki et al. (2007) suggested
that this is because long stretches of AATGGGGGG repeats are difficult
to clone or sequence with the conventional techniques used. It is also
likely that low number of TTAGGG repeats in the cloned elongation
products in the present study is also due to the difficulty with the
conventional cloning techniques.
