The birds fed the enzyme supplemented diets had heavier and larger duodenums and larger overall size and weight of their small intestines than those of birds fed enzyme unsupplemented diets. This was possibly due to the fact that the enzymes accelerated the process of digestion in the digestive tract, particularly in the gizzard. The quantity of digesta in the duodenum was greater in the birds fed the enzyme supplemented diets than in the birds fed enzyme unsupplemented diets.
