I think we have all woken up some mornings with a stiff back, sore neck, etc…Have you ever thought about how you sleep or if your bed is soft enough? Having a correct sleeping position and nice soft bed can be such a GAME CHANGER!!!!
Hopefully your getting your 8 full hours of sleep (YOU BETTER BE). During those 8 hours a lot of stuff can happen to your body that you aren’t necessarily “aware” of. Are you a stomach sleeper? If so give this a try; stand up and tilt your head 90 degrees in either direction. Hold for an easy 10 minutes. How’d that go? Uncomfortable? Weird right…not really. Now imagine holding that for 6 hours at a minimum and 8+ hours if your legit and getting your proper amount of sleep. Pretty safe to say that having our neck CRANKED either way and our spine over-extended all night is a BAD IDEA.
Since we are all super athletes lets be more aware of what we are doing to our bodies even when we are in our “resting” state. We want to try to remain as “Neutral” through the whole system (our body and spine). This is the reason why sleeping on your stomach is an immediate FAIL. Why? You have to crank your head sideways in order to BREATHE at night. So unless your sleeping on a massage table or have constructed a bed where you have cut out a hole so your face can fit through, then you are NOT ABLE to sleep in a “Neutral” position.
