Some specimens are found at the centre of spiraling 'death march' tracks, left as the dying animal was succumbing to the toxic waters at the bottom of the lagoon. Paradoxically, this suggests that Mesolimulus could tolerate a wide range of conditions - most other Solnhofen creatures were already dead by the time they settled on the bottom. Other preserved tracks show that Mesolimulus probably swam like the modern Limulus - upside down.
