There are several common methods to increase the yield strength of
structural steels and alloys. The simplest and most frequently used
method is cold working, e.g. cold rolling, which allows to significantly
increase the yield strength in various metallic materials. Regarding
high-Mn TWIP steels, the yield strength can be increased above
1.5 GPa by large strain cold rolling [8,9]. However, the strengthening
by cold working is accompanied by a drastic degradation of plasticity
