Myanmar is one of the countries that have restricted their citizens to the right to information, news, freedom of expression, communication technologies, and the internet which are controlled by the government. It had no other way of exchanging and communicating messages to the rest of the world. Myanmar used to have censorship in several topics and they have been controlling the flow of information to its citizens in radio broadcasts and publications. However, the information and communication technology (ICT) sector has undergone a radical change through the Computer Science Development Law which was supported by the Myanmar Computer Development Council. Their goal was to make rules and regulations that will promote computer science and technology as a tool for the nation’s development. Though there have been improvements, it is evident that Myanmar still has a lot to improve on and change in their system in order to cope with the fast-paced modernization of the world.
