All,
Further to my earlier email please see the below email from IA. This highlights the necessity to agree appropriate timelines for closing out audit findings as part of the audit process. In several previous audits I have noticed that the internal auditor has populated the findings document with “proforma dates” to complete the draft audit report and facilitate a discussion with the BU. However these dates these have not been changed by the BU and have come through to me with 1 month turn arounds to complete for some complex matters. It is important that the close out dates are what you believe is a reasonable time to close out the finding.
This also highlights that the audit findings need to be appropriately tested with the internal auditor prior to the report being released to ensure that they are accurate and actionable.
I don’t want to have to go to Peter Mackie or Zlatko/Nessa with a low rated finding asking for an extension of time to close out.
