The fluorescent dye has an absorption peak at a wavelength of
266 nm while it has an excitation wavelength of 260 nm in fluorescence.
The three concentrations of fluorescent dye have been prepared by doping
of fluorescent dye 1%, 3% and 5% into pure FLC and we call these as
mixture 1, mixture 2 and mixture 3 in the whole paper.
The UV–visible absorption study has been performed by using UV–
Vis spectrophotometer (Elico SL210) for a wavelength interval of 300–
600 nm. The fluorescent measurement has been performed by using
fluorescent spectrophotometer (Elico SL-174) in a wavelength interval
of 200–600 nm. During the fluorescent measurement all the parameters
like excitation and emission band pass filters have been kept the same
for all the mixtures [9]. From the fluorescent study we have also evaluated
quantum yield for all the mixtures. The dielectric data have been
determined by measuring the value of capacitance and the dissipation
factor measured with the help of impedance/gain phase analyzer HP-
4194A in the frequency range of 100 Hz to 10 MHz. We have subtracted
the value of stray capacitance and we have also removed the contribution
of sheet resistance, ITO coatings and lead inductance of the cell.
By the least square fitting of experimental data we have removed
these contributions and we used the relative permittivity [10]. The temperature
of the samples has been maintained with the help of Instec Hot
Plate HCS 302.
