Charter court to rule Friday on budget bill’s legitimacy
The Constitution Court will decide by voting this Friday whether the 2014 budget bill which recently passed the final reading of the parliament is constitutional or not.
But prior to the vote, all parties concerned are required to give verbal testimonies before the court regarding the petition submitted to the court by Senator Paibul Nititawan and Democrat MP Wirat Kalyasiri contesting the constitutionality of the budget bill.
The petition was considered by the court today in the presence of the two lawmakers and representatives from the Parliament’s budget scrutiny committee, the Central Administrative Court, the National anti-Corruption Commission and the Judicial Office who were given a chance to testify.
Also on today, the Constitutional Court dismissed the petition by 40 senators for the court to stall the submission of the constitutional amendments to the Palace by the prime minister.
The court also dismissed another petition by General Somjate Boonthanom for the court to issue an injuction to stop the prime minister from forwarding the amendments bill to the Palace for Royal endorsement.
