India considering higher export subsidies
India's cabinet could soon approve an increase in the raw sugar subsidy paid to mills to about 4,000 rupees per mt as it looks to cut large stockpiles, two government sources with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters. The subsidy proposal will go for approval to the Prime Minister, the sources said. With the help of the incentives, mills say they will be able to sell raw sugar to standalone refineries in Asia and Africa.
