In order to evaluate risk, exposure of the population (or subgroups
of the population) to mycotoxins is compared with the
relevant health-based guidance value, such as the tolerable daily
intake (TDI), or the provisional maximum tolerable daily intake
(PMTDI). A TDI or a PMTDI is derived by ascertaining the highest
dose that has no effect in the most sensitive species tested and
applying a safety or uncertainty factor.
