Apple's Steve Jobs is dead at 56
Apple on Wednesday announced the death of its visionary co-founder Steve Jobs, at age 56.
"We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today," the company's board of directors said in a statement.
"Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations thatenrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve."
Jobs underwent an operation for pancreatic cancer in 2004 and a liver transplant in 2009.
His ill-health was obvious in his later years and all major newspapers had preparedobituaries ready to be published when he died. Thus, already, there are many long and very interesting stories on Steve Job's life available on the internet.
