Fifty microliter of oil was solubilised in 950 ul of hexane and was esterified using sodium methoxide.The fatty acid composition was analysed by GC(Hewlett-Packard 6890) equipped with a flame ionisation detector(FID) and a fused silica capillary BPX-70 column (60mm x 0.32mm i.d., 0.25um film thickness) from SGE (Melbournc,Australia).The oven temperature was set at 115°C,raised to 180°C at rate of 8°C/min and held for 10min.The temperature was finally raised to 240°C at rate of 8°C/min,and held for 10 min.The sample size was 1ul and flashed though methyl esters were made by comparison of retention times of FAME with the standard 37 component FAME mixture.
