4 Evaluation study
The motivation of the study was to investigate acceptance of Europe 2045 as a supplementary tool for social sciences and humanities education. In other words, we asked whe ther the game was successfully integrated into the formal schooling system and, if this was the case, what properties of the game contributed most to this success. When pre paring the study, we hypothesised that the key properties might be: (a) the game's intelligibility(e.g. in comparison with commercial games(b) social role-playing, (c) its grounding in real-world data, (d) storytelling, (e) support from teachers.
