The world of athletics has long recognized the value of
a good coach in achieving success (Carter & Bloom,
2009). Therefore, it seems logical that the concept of
coaching would eventually extend beyond the sports
arena. Increasing healthcare costs, combined with the
growing evidence of the preventive impact of healthy
lifestyle behaviors, has prompted many health professions
to search for innovative means of promoting health
behavior change. Health coaching has recently emerged
as a promising intervention to address this problem.
